Some years ago I first stumbled upon the chord progression that became the driving force of my latest song ‘Solace in Solitude’.
Another element that remains unchanged since the original conception is the song’s title, which encapsulates the meaning of the lyrics: the narrator’s realisation that he can now only find relief while alone, or more precisely, without his family.
No, this isn’t his lust for sexual relief in the guise of a wank in a free house without fear of being seen; the narrator is somewhat spitefully coming to terms with a lifelong burden and finally has a solution – running away.
To prevent this becoming an English Literature exam textual analysis, below the video are the lyrics, written by myself along with the music. The video was filmed, directed and edited by Laurence McManus.
